"Substantial leap forward"

IMARS program has been a great academic experience for me. IMARS has been what I expected — a creative environment with motivated fellow students (both Russian and foreign), high-quality teaching and basic facilities for research (library and computers). I consider my year at IMARS to have been a substantial leap forward.

FAQ

Study process

How do exams take place? Are they written, oral or does it depend on each course? And when are the students supposed (or advised) to begin working on their thesis? Will there be a break between the two semesters?

All of your assessment exercises will take a written form like midterm and final essays for each course, and the dissertation. We recommend that you start working on your dissertation in the beginning of the second semester with the topic provisionally approved in the end of the first semester. The break between fall and spring semesters is about 7 week long (starting before Christmas) and that between spring and fall semesters is about 10 weeks (from the end of May).
