Testimonials

"I'll be back!"

If someone had told me two years ago, that I will ever live and study in Russia, I would have laughed. But look what happened. On 1st of February this year I arrived at the Finland Railway Station in St. Petersburg. Well, perhaps I came not as celebrated as the bald little man before me in 1917. Nevertheless, I was ready to study the spring term in Russia.

Why EUSP?

The European University at St. Petersburg is a private graduate college. A product of post-Soviet intellectual revolution, it was set up in 1994 for the purpose of advancing training and research in economics, anthropology, history, political science, sociology and art history. Since 1998 EUSP has been offering unique study abroad programs in Russian and Eurasian Studies to international students.

Openness to the outside world and international cooperation are among the key values of our university. Participation in international research networks and high mobility of the faculty help us to maintain high professional standards. EUSP academic community and its location in one of Europe’s major cultural centers attract professors and students from outside of Russia.

Over the years EUSP international programs have hosted many distinguished international faculty: Gerry Easter (Boston College), Steven Fish (University of California, Berkeley), Henry Hale (George Washington University), Ted Hopf (Ohio State University), Mary McAuley (Ford Foundation), Peter Rutland (Wesleyan University), Michael Urban (University of California, Santa Cruz), David Woodruff (LSE), William Zimmerman (University of Michigan), Brian Taylor and Renée de Nevers (University of Syracuse).

Our graduates work in such organizations as the US State Department, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, diplomatic missions, Bloomberg, Shell, Carbon Capital Markets Ltd, Alfa Bank, etc. Others have entered Ph. D. programs at Oxford University, Princeton University, George Mason University, University of Washington, University of Chicago, Heidelberg University and more.

FAQ

Accommodation

Is there any housing available and what would be a realistic cost associated with "on-campus" or "off-campus" living?

A few places are provided at the EUSP dormitory in the center of the city. The cost of a place in a room for two is $150 per month. However, more commonly arrangements are made for those who wish to rent a room from Russian families or share an appartment with other students. The level of rent in St. Petersburg is still substantially lower than in Moscow. As of February 2011, prices for an average separate bedroom in a centrally located apartment start at $350 per month. To rent a non-shared apartment at a semi-periphery of the city costs from $500.
